The annual World's 50 Best Restaurants List just came out and Alex Atala has reason to pop the champagne: he climbed 16 positions to #24 in the world! Here's the full list:
My wife and I have been twice to D.O.M., once for lunch and once for dinner. The second time (dinner) the experience was mixed. The couvert was overpriced and oversimple. Nothing worth the price. The main course, a fish dish, was outstanding, a very creative and exquisite combination of ingredients, including Amazonian cassava broth. The dessert was indifferent. The sommelier's recommended wine did not go well with the dish. In all, it was a one out of five. I have eaten better in Lima (you know where), San Francisco, New York, and Paris, all for less.
